The Member of Parliament for Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak is calling for the closure of Parliament for 14 days after some MPs and Parliamentary staff tested positive to COVID-19.

Dr. Clement Abas Apaak shared his thoughts on his twitter page on what Parliament should do after some Members of Parliaments and Parliamentary tested positive to COVID-19.

“15 MPs and 56 staff of Parliament have tested positive for COVID. Best option, shut down Parliament. We don’t know the IDs of those positive, who still attended parliament. Shut down parliament, all MPs and staff, self-isolate. Get us tested after 14 days, then we resume if negative.”

Following the outbreak of COVID-19 at Parliament House, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has announced that Parliament would sit twice in a week to curb the spread of the disease.
