Salaga-South NDC joins Green Ghana Initiative

The Social Media and Publicity Team of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Salaga South Constituency of the Savannah region embarked on a tree planting exercise as today Friday 11th June 2021 marks the National Tree Planting exercise across the country dubbed the Green Ghana Project.

The Green Ghana Project is an initiative under the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources that is aimed at planting five million trees in a single day across the country.

The Team planted cashew seedlings around the Nation Democratic Congress (NDC) party Office and extended the exercise on the Salaga – Tamale road. In all, seventy cashew seedlings(70) were planted by the group.

The Leader of the team Mr. Saaka Sulemana stated that, the decision by the team to embark on this very important exercise was to support the vision of the government to achieve the Green Ghana Project in order to preserve the country’s forest and Environment. He further explained that, the team decided to plant cashew as an economic venture for the future.

The Savannah Regional Youth Organiser Alhaji Inusah Mahama alias 4As who joined the team to embark on the tree planting exercise this morning encouraged other well meaning Ghanaians from all walks of life to individually and collectively replicate this crucial exercise in order to save our environment. He advised the team to regularly monitor the progress of the trees and ensure that, they are protected from any form of destruction.

The Member of Parliament for the constituency, Hon Hajia Zuwera Ibrahimah applauded the team for their hard work and advised them to continue to be abreast with government policies that are aimed are protecting the environment and to continue to play active roles in their implementation
