Ghana Parliament

The Council of State is intervening to resolve the seeming tension in Parliament which sometimes lead to open hostilities between the two sides of the House.

The disagreement between the Minority and the Majority over the controversial E-levy has further deepened the tensions and resulted in fisticuffs.

Chairman of the Council of State, Nana Otuo Serebour says the Council cannot sit for things to degenerate.

The Council met with the Minority Caucus last week and met with the Majority side on February 28, 2022.

Nana Serebour pledged the Council’s support to Speaker Alban Bagbin in steering affairs of the House.

The Speaker, Alban Bagbin says he is not surprised at what is happening in Parliament currently.

According to Nana Otuo Serebour, with his vast Parliamentary experience and the outcome of the 2020 elections, and the events of the first day of this Parliament, he knew that it was not going to be easy.

He promised to discharge his duties in an impartial manner as he ensures that the best interest of the nation is served at all times.
