The first of two live NBA Regular Season games arrives on the morning of Saturday 9 April and sees the Utah Jazz play host to the Phoenix Suns (03:30 LIVE on ESPN 2).

The Suns, last season’s Championship runners-up, have looked determined to make up for that bitter disappointment and are set to enter the Playoffs as one of the top-ranked teams. Phoenix’s powerful roster has also been boosted by the continued growth of Deandre Ayton into a reliable and prolific scorer.

“He is aggressive in the post. I didn’t see a ton of finesse,” Suns coach Monty Williams said of Ayton. “I saw, ‘I am getting to my spot and if you are not going to give me any resistance, I may go through you’.”

Williams added, “We don’t want to be ‘Chris and Book’ [Chris Paul and Devin Booker] dimensional. We want to be comfortable to go to other guys so that in those key moments it is not something new to them.”

The Jazz, however, will be potent opponents – especially with the brilliance of Donovan Mitchell in their ranks. “It’s fun, just seeing friends and family, being able to do that, but also understanding that we have a job to do,” Mitchell said.

“I think that’s what our focus was all day, understanding that if we can put ourselves in the right position for the playoffs, keeping the main thing the main thing regardless of what’s around.”

The Suns will be back in action late on the evening of Sunday 10 April when they host the Sacramento Kings in Arizona (22:30 LIVE on ESPN 2).

The Kings have struggled for consistency, but in De’Aaron Fox they have a top-performer who can do damage to any opposition. Kings interim coach Alvin Gentry said, “De’Aron is playing so well right now and he’s doing an extremely good job of controlling the game. Night in and night out what he is doing for us is amazing. He’s playing as well as anybody in the league if you go back over the last month or so.”
