The holy month of Ramadan is winding down as Muslims’ observance of fasting from dawn to dusk comes to an end in a few days, with the big Eid Ul Fitr celebration.

British High Commissioner Visits Chief’s Imam

The British High Commissioner to Ghana, Harriet Thompson paid a visit to the Chief Imam as he observed the holy month of Ramadan and also took time to wish him a happy birthday.

Tweeting about it, she wrote, “…I brought gifts to contribute to his eminence’s support for the community and discussed his crucial role in promoting peace”.

Special ‘Iftar’ Moments during Ramadan

Muslims break their daily fast with iftar, a meal that is shared with friends, families and even strangers. Here are a few ‘iftar moments’ captured: Second Lady of  Ghana, Samira Bawumia Tweeted about  having hosted members of the Muslim community for Iftar at the Jubilee house, together with the Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and National Chief Imam, Sheik Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharabutu.

H.E. John Dramani Mahama also embarked on a series of iftars  to fraternise and pray with Muslim communities during the last days of Ramadan, as reported by YEN.Com.gh

Quranic verses & Prayers feature prominently on Twitter

Ramadan is a holy month of worship, study of the Qur’an & prayers. This year, online Islamic Madrasah Alameen onlinegh  shared daily Qur’an verses to uplift Muslims. Naaem Cheema Tweeted  the Qur’anic prayer (Ch; 3:195}, “Our Lord, give us what Thou hast promised to us through Thy Messengers; and disgrace us not on the Day of Resurrection.

Surely, Thou breakest not Thy promise.” Dashing Sumaila also posted, “May Allah answer our prayers and dua during these last ten days of Ramadan.”

Ramadan and donations to the needy

Beyond fasting, Ramadan is synonymous with charity.  ABD Traore, CEO of WatsUp TV through his personal initiative and foundation expressed his love for the needy and people on the street in Accra. News Ghana  Tweeted about this show of goodwill on their Twitter handle. 

In this Tweet, Municipal Chief Executive for Ablekuma Central, Mariama Karley Amui Central also donated food items to the Muslim community in support of the upcoing Eid ul-Fitr celebration.

Nyaho shares health tips for Ramadan

Health and Holiness goes hand in hand during the Ramadan period. Nyaho Medical Centre took the initiative to share five amazing health benefits of fasting, helpful for religious and non-religious people alike. Here is the original Tweet that captures the 5 tips.

7th Sheikh Sharubutu Ramadan Cup launched: 28 Zongo communities to participate

The seventh edition of the annual inter-zongo community football competition, dubbed the Sheik Sharubutu Ramadan Cup was launched as part of the Ramadan activities. This year’s edition, which will be held on the 7th and 8th May 2022, has been expanded to include 28 participating Zongo communities. The official announcement was made by media outlets like Joy Sports  Tweeting about it
