Delta Omega is the national honorary society for graduate studies in public health.

The society was founded in 1924 at the John Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (now known as the Bloomberg School of Public Health) to promote excellence and recognize accomplishments in public health.

Over 98 years later, Delta Omega has expanded to more than 100 chapters throughout the world and has more than 15,000 members from the top echelons of graduate schools and programs of public health, as well as the public health community.

Membership is highly selective and recognizes outstanding performance and devotion to the field of public health as well as to the protection and advancement of the health of all people.

Alumni are considered for induction based on their outstanding commitment, leadership, scholarship, and/or service to the field of public health. It is anticipated that candidates who work in the practice of public health can serve as a model for future generations of public health practitioners.
