Veep Bawumia

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has charged stakeholders in the business community to be the change they envisage by embracing technology to advance the digitisation agenda.

Addressing the 6th Ghana CEO’s Summit in Accra, Vice President Bawumia said while the government puts in place the systems to ensure a conducive environment for businesses to thrive, there is a need for industry players to digitize their operations to remain competitive.

Dr Bawumia also announced that Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies will soon see the ongoing digitization of their systems to enhance transparency and accountability.

The summit presented the opportunity for participants to proffer concrete, innovative and actionable solutions, to help the country move forward, build resilient companies and develop outstanding CEOs.

Discussions centered on how local businesses can be radically transformed to become multinational entities traverse and transcend the African Continent.

Vice President Bawumia said deliberate efforts to employ digital ways to bring the needed transformation is key although there is resistance to change.

He stressed that it is time to change the status quo to fight corruption. Dr. Bawumia commended the CEO Network for tapping into the government’s vision to transform the economy and choosing a theme that resonates with the digitisation agenda.

He stressed that digitization will not only help eliminate bureaucracies, especially in the public sector but bring efficiency into the way things are done.

Vice President Bawumia also indicated that the digital process will soon be extended to the Metropolitan Municipal and District Assemblies to enhance efficiency in service delivery.

This 6th edition of the CEO summit focused on “Digital Leadership for the Digital Economy: Leading Digital Business and Government Transformation; a public-private sector CEO dialogue and learning.”

The CEO of Volta River Authority, VRA took the overall CEO of the year for the public sector category while the CEO of OLAM was the overall CEO of the year in the private sector category.

Other awardees include Chief Executive Officer DVLA, Kwasi Agyeman Busia, who was honoured with the Hall of Fame for the transport sector.
