The Royal Eagle Ladies Foundation, a non-governmental organization that seeks to empower young ladies to take charge and become more decisive for their personal, emotional, economic as well as social development, has led a campaign to plant trees as part of Ghana’s green vegetation agenda, ‘Green Ghana’.
The exercise was held in collaboration with the Naa oo Naa Foundation at the Odorkor Saleria Cluster of Schools in the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly in Accra.
The occasion was used to plant tree seedlings within the school’s premises.
The tree planting exercise was supervised by the Ablekuma North Municipal Director of Agriculture, Hopeson Blewu, and in the company of the team who also facilitated the tree planting exercise.
Addressing the students and teachers at the gathering, the Executive Director of Royal Eagle ladies Foundation, Ms. Loretta Abban indicated that the Green Ghana agenda is a collective responsibility as part of efforts to drive re-afforestation in the country.
According to her, this falls very well in line with the prevention of further depletion of the Ozone Layer through the emission of carbon dioxide and the human activities that affect climate and environmental change.
“The Green Ghana initiative which focuses on planting trees to protect and restore Ghana’s vegetative cover is a very laudable move by the government which must be embraced and supported by all Ghanaians. This agenda indeed aligns with the priorities of our foundation,” she said.
Touching on the perennial flooding issues which have become an annual ritual in the country, she attributed the problem to the lack of trees in the capital.
“This development positions the Green Ghana project as a strategic and commendable initiative that will go a long way to help solve the flooding situation in the country and safeguard the environment.”
Touching on the brain behind the Royal Eagle Ladies Foundation (Relempowerment), Ms. Abban mentioned that the foundation is about empowering young ladies to take charge and increase in being decisive for their personal, emotional, economic, and as well as social development.
“It is the vision of Royal Eagle Ladies Foundation to become a dominant ladies’ empowerment advocate in West Africa and all parts of the world.
We are encouraging young ladies to be self-reliant and independent with respect to life.
The Royal Eagle ladies foundation is founded on general principles of love, mercy, justice, and to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all growing ladies,” she revealed.
Adding that “the objectives and goals of the organization include promote education; training and professional development for women; implement enterprise development; supply chain and marketing practices that empower women; promote equality through community initiatives and advocacy and also measure publicly report on progress to achieve gender equality.”
Touching on the mission of the foundation, she said it is meant to empower young ladies to be focused, and confident to develop their full potential and also provide them with tools to work their way out of poverty.
