The Ghana Armwrestling Team, Golden Arms won 45 medals from the 11th edition of the Africa Armwrestling Championship at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere at Lagos, Nigeria from July 19 to July 24 under the auspices of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa headed by Charles Osei Asibey.
They comprise 18 gold medals, 22 silver medals, and five bronze medals in both left and right arm battles.
Ghana finished third with a cumulative point of 383 while Nigeria with 27 gold medals, 27 silver medals, and 22 bronze medals finished first with 630 points, while Egypt had 24 gold medals and placed second with 248 points in the overall team classification.
Cameroon, with a total of 122 points finished fourth with seven gold medals, four silver medals, and a bronze, while Togo placed fifth with 45 points and two gold and silver medals each, and a bronze medal.
Benin and Madagascar scored 40 points each, but Benin had a gold medal, three silver medals, and a bronze medal to place sixth while Madagascar had three silver medals and two bronze medals to place seventh
Senegal finished eighth with a silver medal and five bronze medals to accumulate 36 points, while Ivory Coast came ninth with seven points after winning a bronze medal.
The team arrived on Sunday, July 24.
According to Charles Osei Asibey, Ghana has won a total of 170 medals in four continental competitions.
He called on the government to support the Golden Arms and thanked all the delegates at the African Armwrestling Congress where he was elected president.
