The Bayana Bayana of South Africa made history on Saturday night by winning the 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations (WAFCON) for the first time when they beat Morocco 2-1 in the final.

Hildah Magaia emerged the woman of the match after her brace saw South Africa claiming the title for the first time after five challenges.

After a goalless first half dominated by the Bayana Bayana, Magaia scored the first goal on 63 minutes giving the girls from the south the lead.

Coach Desiree Ellis proved that she is the best as her girls dominated and doubled for Bayana Bayana with a composed finish.

The second goal by Magaia woke up the Moroccans as they sprung to action to reduce the tally.

Rosella Ayane drilled the ball into the bottom corner to pull one back for the Atlas Lionesses.

As the game went on. It was clear that the South Africans were on top and deserved to win.
