The Just ended 15th Annual National delegates congress of the Private University Students’ Association of Ghana (PUSAG), may have ended on a historically bad note, if not for the timely intervention of the officers of the Ghana Police Service present.

The program which took place at the Kessben University College, Kuntanase, and lasted for 3 days was purposely meant for the election of new officers for the association. And just like all elections-related incidents, the PUSAG Congress was not left out.

According to delegates present who spoke on condition of anonymity, the SRC President of the Wisconsin International University College (WIUC), Kumasi, Hon Douglas Peprah was seen holding the neck of his External Affairs Secretary, Hon Kofi Adom.

This caught the attention of the Chief Justice of the Ghana Union of Professional Studies (GUPS) who was also nearly beaten by the SRC President of WIUC-Kumasi when he approached Hon Douglas to find out the cause of the fight. Upon sensing danger, the Chief Justice of GUPS called for Police intervention.

The seemingly short scene which reminds us all about the van Damme and Jet Li movie, took place on Sunday 16th of October, 2022 in the presence of delegates like Hon Smith, the GUPS Chief Justice who happens to be the second victim,  Hon Abu the Chief Justice of PUSAG, Hon. Murphy Asare the general secretary of GUPS, Osei Owusu Ebenezer who is the External Affairs  President for Kessben University College, Hon Starry Akomene, the SRC President for IBM&J, Hon Paul Adu Gyamfi, the immediate-past SRC President for WIUC-Accra Campus, Hon Stephen Nii Nortey WIUC Accra, Hon Rhoda Binney the IRD Elect, Hon Adom Kofi Emmanuel, External Affairs Secretary of WIUC-KSI among others.

The inside story was that The SRC President of WIUC-KSI was not in support of the candidature of Miss Rhoda Binney who happens to be a student of WIUC-KSI, though Miss Rhoda went unopposed.

This decision of the SRC President was evidenced by his welcome response to Hon. Asare Murphy, the GUPS General Secretary when he disclosed to him that he is in to rally his support for another candidate and not Rhoda from his own Institution.

It must be re-emphasized that the officers of the Ghana Police Service present commendably did well to restore calm at the end of the day.

The program ended successfully with the following personalities as the new Executives of the association

President- George Arthur Sackey, General Secretary- Ernest Nelson Doe, Amepenebea Esther Akosua- Women’s Commissioner, Albert Kusi Boahene- Media Relations Officer, Rhoda Binney-International Relations Director
