‘Sleek N Suave GH’ a social media group on Facebook on Saturday, donated 20 boxes of sanitary pads to the Pantang Hospital to support inpatients as part their first anniversary celebrations.
The gesture according to the Mr Richard Kwao who deputised for the founder and leader the the group, Nii Amartey Amartefio, was to help the hospital address some challenges with regard to assisting inpatients.
“We realized hospitals like Pantang are overburdened and sometimes lack the resources to take care of inpatients and need to be supported,” he stated.
The group, he said, had undertaken such donations in the past including assisting 30 fresh born babies and mothers with 30 hampers in September at the LEKMA Hospital the previous week.
“This donation to the LEKMA Hospital was from the October borns and we are focused on addressing societal challenges with focus on health, education and other areas,” he stated.
Sleek and Suave he said, was committed to supporting individuals and communities across the country as part of their social responsibilities.
Receiving the items, Senior Nursing Officer, Mary Rhondi thanked the group for the support and urge others to come on board to support the hospital.
“The donation would go a long way to support the inpatients as we continue to appeal to corporate entities and individuals to come to our aid,” she stated.
The occasion was also used to provide a lecture on mental health, aimed at educating the public on mental issues.
Delivering the lecture, Ms Rhondi said, lot of people were going through various forms of mental disorders except it had not gotten to the stage of insanity.
She cautioned the public against the use of harmful drugs that could impact on their health while urging the public to support people with mental disorders.
“Drug abuse has been the main cause of mental issues especially among the youth and urge them to desist from such act,” she stated.
The group took a tour of the facility led by Nursing Officer, Paulina Anthonio and promised to visit the hospital on annual basis to support inpatients.
Meanwhile the group has lined up a number of activities to celebrate their one year anniversary.
