Here is the full statement from Dr. Kwabena Duffuor:
I have learned with great sadness, the passing of my former colleague and friend, Professor Kwesi Botchwey.
During my time as the Chief Economist and the Head of Research of the Ghana Commercial Bank, I worked closely with Kwesi Botchwey for over a decade and I came to know his intelligence and warmth firsthand.
He was an invaluable asset to our motherland and always availed himself to serve or offer counsel on matters of our country’s economic stability.
Kwesi Botchwey is and will always be an icon – a representation of the best values of this country. He was selfless, diligent, widely respected, kind-hearted, and embodied a strong sense of nationhood.
The NDC has lost a prominent comrade and Ghana has lost an illustrious son.
I extend my sincerest condolences to his bereaved family and wish them strength in these difficult times.
Rest well, Kwesi.
