Ghana last night received the body of Black Stars player, Christian Atsu Twasam, with a solemn ceremony led by the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and other government officials at the Kotoka International Airport.

Christian Atsu Twasam, died in the February 6 earthquake in Turkey. He plied his profession with Turkish side Hatayspor.

He made 64 appearances for the Black Stars, scoring 10 goals and nine assists.

Dr Bawumia on behalf of the Government and people of Ghana extended condolences to the Twasam family and the football fraternity for the deep loss.

The Vice President said the Government would support the family to give Christian Atsu a befitting burial.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Prosper Harrison Addo, said Atsu brought so much joy to Ghanaians and his philanthropic work to support the vulnerable.

He said the GFA, will join hands with the government and the Twasam family to give him a befitting burial.

The elder of the Twasam family, Nene Twasam, expressed gratitude to the Government and Ghanaians for the support since the incident.
