The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has touted that it is not perturbed or moved by the decision of former president John Dramani Mahama to run for president in the 2024 general elections.
Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah at a press conference today stated emphatically that the party is not in any way worried about a man who has no track record to show when he was president.
The Former President of the Republic John Dramani Mahama on Tuesday, February, 21 declared his intention to lead the NDC again into the election of 2024 after a failed attempt in 2016 and 2020.
A team of loyalists Wednesday, February 22 picked up nomination forms on his behalf.
Addressing the media in after the forms had been picked on Mahama’s behalf, Mr. Ahiagbah boldly said, the NPP will win the 2024 election.
According to him, the Akuffo Addo-led government has been performing very well by working tirelessly to ensure that the economy is up on its feet and appreciated.
He said, the NPP since assumed office in 2017, the economy has been stable and both the poor and the average are able to feed and be responsible in society.
Throwing more light, Richard elaborated that, 2017, 2018, and 2019 were the best years as far as the economy is concerned.
Nonetheless, COVID-19 cropped up and all was in shambles. He said the opposition NDC has no claims and facts to back up their arguments describing the NPP as incompetent.
Asked if the NPP was afraid of Mr. Mahama’s intention to contest the 2024 elections, Mr. Ahiagbah said it will neither be difficult nor surprising to beat him because the NPP had already done so on two occasions
The Director of Communications of the NPP raised concerns that, the governing party is rather worried about how to improve more and boost Ghana’s economy for the ordinary Ghanaian to make earns meet not about John Mahama who they are certain of beating.
“We are interested in how we can build our economy, Mahama has no solutions because we saw him vanquish the gains that he got, and we saw him collapse our economy and banking sector. He doesn’t have what it takes to improve Ghana because if he had what it took to do that, he wouldn’t have vanquished our economic gains and taken us to the IMF,” he added.
He, therefore, assured party patriots and Ghanaians to still have confidence and keep up with the high spirit to conquer and win again come December 2024 polls.
