Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah has resigned over the case of US$1 million, 300,000 euros and millions of Ghana cedis stolen from her Abelemkpe home by two house helps between July and October 2022.

In a letter dated July 22, 2023, addressed to Mr. President (President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo), the embattled minister said “I write to inform you that I wish to resign from my position as Minister of Sanitation and Waster Resources.”

She attributed her resignation to stories in mainstream and social media about the court case on the theft of huge sums of foreign currencies and millions of Ghana cedis in her house, which suggest those moneys were hers.

“Whereas I can state emphatically that those figures do not represent correctly what my husband and I reported to the Police, I am very much aware of the import of such stories around someone in my position.
