Tokyo 2020 Olympic bronze medalist. Samuel Takyi believes Ghana has many young people who can become sports heroes if they are given the opportunity.
Speaking to Yours Truly on The Big Fight Night on Omashi TV, he called for a revamp of the Black Bombers with well organised Individual Championship to select the best boxers to represent the nation.
He said there can be regional open championship to involve boxers in other regions.
According to the 13th African Games gold medalist in the Featherweight division, most of the boxers in the current team do not repeat the technical staff including the head coach.
He revealed that the closing ceremony of Tokyo 2020 and the 2021 SWAG Awards are the most memorable moments in his life.
Samuel Takyi said he has no regrets turning professional after his medal success in Japan.
He had two pro experiences in Nigeria and South Africa which taught him many lessons and hopes to capture some titles soon.
The Ring Warrior as he is also known is now managed by Michael Amoo Bediako and Streetwise Management and Promotions. He is billed to fight in August.
He saluted the athletes and swimmers representing Ghana at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
“This is their time, they can also make it. I wish them all the best,” he expressed.
