Africans Rising will hold the 2nd edition of the All-African Movement Assembly from 29th – 31st August as all roads lead to Accra, Ghana.
AAMA 2024 is the largest gathering of African movements, activists, and human rights defenders demanding African unity, peace and dignity.
This was disclosed in a press release signed by the Communications & Media Lead of AAMA Ann Lorna.
With over 400 physical participants and 1000 virtual participants expected, the AAMA 2024, provides a critical platform for assessing our collective mandate as Africans in our quest for unity, justice, peace, and dignity.
As Africa faces a rapidly shrinking civic space, with increasing crackdowns on dissent, harassment, abductions, and even killings of activists, the need for collective dialogue and unified action has never been more urgent.
AAMA 2024 will convene under the theme “Towards Pan-African Solidarity: United We Stand, Divided We Fall” to address these pressing issues.
AAMA2024 is also happening in the wake of recent protests in Senegal, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria and Uganda calling for better living conditions and dignity for Africans, especially the youth.
The second edition will build on the first one held in 2022, bringing together 400 activists, human rights defenders, movements, social justice advocates, at least one from each African country and members from the diaspora to convene, converse, connect and strategize.
The issues that would be discussed include Borderless Africa, Climate justice, Gender justice, Economic justice, Ethical governance, Civic space expansion, Reparations.
This will be a great opportunity and platform to look holistically and collectively at the crisis moment that we are in and formulate a systems framework for dealing with these vexed matters together in solidarity.
During the closing ceremony, we shall also hold Activism Awards Ceremony / Gala night to award the 2023 and 2024 Winners
