Digital Aid International has successfully held its highly anticipated CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) awareness campaign and Fundraising Walk focusing on protecting children from the growing threats of online sexual exploitation
The campaign, themed ‘One Message, One Video, One Picture Shared Online Can Jeopardize Your Child’s Future,’ aimed to shed light on the alarming reality of over 85 million CSAM uploads to the internet since 2021.
Held virtually and across various social platforms, the event was a significant call to action for families, caregivers, and communities to be vigilant and actively contribute to online child protection.
The program featured key speakers, cybersecurity advocates, and social workers, highlighting real-life case studies, practical online safety measures, and the urgent need to ensure safe digital spaces for children.
Victoria Adinkra, one of the campaign’s key supporters, emphasized the importance of proactive measures in the fight against online child sexual exploitation.
She remarked, ‘Protecting our children online must become a priority for every parent, community leader, and policymaker.
We cannot afford to be passive in a world where a single shared picture or message can put a child’s entire future at risk.
This campaign is a step toward greater awareness, but the fight continues, and we must all do our part.’
A parent who participated in the campaign, Mrs. Grace Nkrumah, expressed her gratitude for the insights gained, saying, ‘As a parent, this campaign opened my eyes to the hidden dangers my children face online. I thought I knew enough, but now I realize how much more vigilant I need to be.
The tools and resources provided will help me protect my kids better. This initiative is a lifeline for families like mine.’
Her daughter, Ama Nkrumah, aged 13, also shared her thoughts on the importance of the campaign, saying, ‘I didn’t know how serious some of the things we post online can be.
Now, I understand that I need to be careful about who I talk to and what I share. I feel safer knowing how to protect myself online.’
The campaign’s success was further amplified by an overwhelming show of support, with hundreds joining the cause to donate and raise awareness.
The team provided insights into the dangers children face online and equipped parents with tools to protect them, including the use of parental control tools and resources available through Digital Aid International.
