The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), in collaboration with the Mampong Local Accountability Network (LANet), organized an educational program for first-time voters at St. Monica’s College of Education and the Hope Congregation Church.
The initiative aimed to equip young voters with the knowledge needed to participate in the upcoming elections with integrity and to promote a peaceful, violence-free electoral process.
The event, led by Mr. Akuoko and the LANet team, focused on engaging students and youth from the Hope Congregation.
Participants were educated on how to cast their votes responsibly and the importance of maintaining integrity during the election process.
Mr. Akuoko emphasized avoiding undue influence from political parties or monetary inducements and highlighted the critical role of peaceful and corruption-free elections in fostering national development.
Key topics discussed included strategies for promoting peace among peers, the significance of reducing rejected ballots, and fostering unity before, during, and after the elections.
Participants were encouraged to share the knowledge gained with others who could not attend the session, thereby amplifying the program’s impact.
During the interactive session, Mr. Akuoko opened the floor for questions, creating an opportunity for participants to seek clarifications and share their thoughts.
The students expressed confidence in their ability to vote wisely in the upcoming December elections.
They also committed to spreading messages of peace in their communities and ensuring their involvement contributes to a credible electoral process.
This initiative by GACC and LANet is part of a broader effort to educate and empower first-time voters, ensuring they play a meaningful role in strengthening Ghana’s democracy.
