Hon. Francis Sosu, MP for Madina, has praised F Alpha and Omega Specialist Hospital on its first anniversary and pledged to seek support from global partners like the World Bank and FIC to back similar healthcare initiatives in the area addressing stakholders at the event.
This was during the celebration of the hospital’s one year anniversary held at Madina in Accra.
The Managing Director, Mr. Francis Fosu reflected on the hospital’s journey since its inception exactly a year ago. “On April 12, 2023, we began this journey of establishing a facility of this magnitude. One year on, we are proud of what has been accomplished,” he said.
He added that, in its first year of operation, the hospital recorded over 85,332 outpatient visits and 11,308 admissions or detainments, averaging 200 to 350 OPD cases daily.
The hospital also made antenatal care (ANC) and deliveries completely free for pregnant women with valid NHIS cards, resulting in 75 cesarean sections within the year.
The surgical department has been notably active, conducting 140 surgeries, including 40 hernia repairs and 15 appendectomies, alongside various other major and minor procedures.
Mr. Fosu highlighted the hospital’s successful collaboration with the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) to make NHIS registration and renewals free for all, allowing immediate access to care.
Staff strength has also seen a significant boost—from 35 clinical and non-clinical workers at inception to over 80 within a year, a reflection of the growing patient load and the facility’s expanding operations.
Mr. Fosu extended appreciation to all clinical staff for their dedication and to the orderlies for maintaining a clean and safe environment.
He also credited his wife, Mrs. Rita Fosu, for her unwavering support and shared vision in establishing the hospital.
“We are setting even higher goals for ourselves this year and believe our experience from the past year has prepared us to exceed them,” he added, inviting stakeholders to join in pushing the hospital’s vision forward.
The four-storey facility, situated on a three-acre plot at Madina Powerland, near Ritz Junction, offers a comprehensive range of services including general OPD/IPD care, specialist surgical services, pediatrics, antenatal, obstetrics, and gynecology. Two new services—the IVF Center and a Premium Centre—were officially commissioned during the event.
According to Mr. Fosu, the Premium Center, was created in response to clients who preferred specialized, non-NHIS services. “There was a clear need to establish this center to cater to clients seeking tailored healthcare experiences,” he explained.
He also emphasized the spiritual value of maternal care, noting, “We believe that childbirth is a divine gift from Almighty God, and it was important to create a space to support those with unique birth-related needs.”
Also present was Mr. Bernard Brown, Greater Accra Regional Director of the NHIA, who lauded the hospital’s Corporate Social Responsibility efforts, the hospital has registered over 16,000 individuals onto the scheme, paying an amount of GHS 310,000 NHIA. He reaffirmed NHIA’s goal to achieve universal health coverage and warned against illegal copayment practices.
“Copayment places an unfair financial burden on NHIS members. The NHIA is actively working to eliminate it. Let me assure the public that F. Alpha and Omega Specialist Hospital does not engage in copayment. We’ve tested and verified their compliance—and they passed,” Mr. Brown said.
As the hospital moves into its second year of operations, the leadership team remains focused on providing quality, affordable, and accessible healthcare to the people of Madina and beyond—with faith, foresight, and community support at the core of their mission.
