NPP Germany Mourns With Ghana: Helicopter Crash A Tragic National Loss Beyond Politics

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Germany branch joins the entire nation of Ghana in deep grief and sorrow following the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of distinguished national leaders and gallant officers of the Ghana Armed Forces on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

Among the fallen were:

  • Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence
  • Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation
  • Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator
  • Samuel Aboagye, former Member of Parliament
  • Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC
  • Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala,
  • Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu,
  • Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

Their sudden and untimely departure has sent a wave of anguish and disbelief across Ghana and beyond.

Though some of the departed served under political banners different from ours, today, in the face of such national catastrophe, there are no political lines—only one Ghana and one grief-stricken people.

We in the NPP Germany Diaspora stand shoulder-to-shoulder with all Ghanaians—at home and abroad—in mourning this unspeakable loss.

These were not just public officials; they were fathers, husbands, sons, patriots, and servants of the state.

Their commitment to Ghana’s peace, security, and progress shall never be forgotten.

We offer our deepest condolences to the bereaved families, the Ghana Armed Forces, the Government of the Republic of Ghana, and all citizens affected by this horrific tragedy.

Our prayers go out to those still working tirelessly in recovery efforts and investigations.

In times like these, we are reminded of the fragility of life and the call to unity.

Let this national disaster inspire a renewed sense of patriotism, humility, and collective resolve to uphold the values for which these brave men lived and died.

This is not just a loss for the government of the day. It is not a loss for a political party. It is a national tragedy — a piercing heartbreak for Ghana.

These fallen leaders and patriots served Ghana with unwavering commitment, putting national duty before personal comfort.

They were aboard that flight not for pleasure or private pursuit, but in the line of service to our republic — to ensure Ghana’s peace, security, environmental stewardship, and national progress.

Their tragic demise reminds us all of the weight of public service, and the risks our leaders and security personnel often shoulder silently on behalf of us all.

As a people, we must pause our differences and stand united in this moment of grief.

We must mourn as one nation.

Let this disaster be a moment of reflection — a solemn reminder of the fragility of life, the sacredness of public service, and the urgent need to prioritize unity over division.

To the bereaved families, and the entire citizenry, we extend our deepest condolences.

May God strengthen your hearts and bind your wounds.

May the souls of all the departed rest in perfect peace.

Ghana has lost gallant men. But in their honour, may we find reason to build a stronger, more united country — beyond politics.

May their souls rest in perfect peace.
