A very timely humanitarian outreach led by the President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has brought relief and renewed hope to more than 2,000 vulnerable residents across Alajo and its surrounding areas in Accra as the new year begins.
The initiative, targeted widows, senior citizens and low-income households who often struggle to meet basic needs during festive periods.
Branded as an annual act of compassion “Sharing Of Love,” the donation forms part of Mr Dwumfour’s long-standing commitment to giving back to society, particularly to communities that have shaped his personal and professional journey since he spent his childhood days mostly in Alajo.
Residents from Alajo, Kotobabi Down and Newtown Down gathered in large numbers to receive assorted food items and essential supplies meant to cushion them against post-Christmas economic pressures.

The exercise attracted traditional leaders, political figures and prominent members of the media, reflecting the broad support and recognition the initiative has garnered over the years.
Among the dignitaries present was the Alajo Mantse, Nii Armah Ajoor II, whose presence underscored the importance of community leadership in promoting social welfare and solidarity.
Hon. Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, the Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central constituency was also there to support the GJA President.
Addressing the gathering, Mr Dwumfour said the outreach was rooted in values of love, sacrifice and empathy, which he believes should define leadership beyond official responsibilities.
He explained that the Christmas season, while celebratory, also presents an opportunity for reflection and service, especially towards individuals who are often forgotten in moments of national joy.
According to him, extending a helping hand to the vulnerable is not merely an act of charity but a moral obligation that strengthens social cohesion and human dignity.
Nii Armah Ajoor II praised the GJA President for remaining connected to his roots and for consistently investing in initiatives that improve the welfare of residents in Alajo and its environs.
The traditional ruler revealed that Mr Dwumfour has been actively supporting local development efforts, including plans aimed at improving transport infrastructure for commercial drivers in the area.
The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, also commended the initiative, describing it as a thoughtful intervention that directly impacts lives.
He noted that gestures of this nature go a long way in easing the hardships faced by the elderly and widows, particularly during periods of economic difficulty.
Several beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the support, saying the items received would help them manage household needs and reduce financial strain at the start of the year.
For many of the recipients, the outreach represented more than material support, serving as reassurance that compassion and shared responsibility still have a place in society.
The annual charity drive has gradually become a symbol of purposeful leadership and social responsibility, reinforcing the message that meaningful change begins with care for the most vulnerable.
