Accra, March 21, 2026 – Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, extended his appreciation to MTN Ghana and MobileMoney LTD for their unwavering commitment to supporting the Muslim community over the past two decades.
Speaking to representatives from MTN and MobileMoney LTD at the donation event, he acknowledged their generous contribution of cash, food items and airtime worth GHS 200,000 to facilitate this year’s Sallah festivities in Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi and Tamale.
The Chief Imam conveyed deep gratitude to MTN Ghana and Mobile Money LTD for their continued support and collaboration, especially as the holy month of Ramadan comes to an end.
He offered heartfelt prayers for both companies and the nation, underscoring the importance of peace, unity and harmonious coexistence among all people.
“May Allah grant every request you have made,” he said, reaffirming his hope for continued blessings on all involved.
He also commended Ghana’s religious harmony, noting that Muslims and Christians continue to coexist peacefully and work together for national development. He further highlighted the importance of unity in diversity, stressing that true honour lies in piety and righteousness.

Representing MTN Ghana, the Chief Digital Officer, Ibrahim Misto, expressed that this initiative reflects the company’s ongoing dedication to uplifting communities and fostering enduring relationships with the Muslim community.
“Ramadan is a sacred season dedicated to prayer, reflection, self-sacrifice and service to humanity. We are grateful to Allah for blessing the Ummah with a peaceful and spiritually enriching Ramadan,” he remarked.
He further highlighted that Eidul-Fitr exemplifies values such as generosity, empathy and unity, principles that deeply resonate with MTN and Mobile Money LTD core values.
“This year holds added significance as MTN Ghana marks 30 years of connecting and serving the people of Ghana. The Muslim community has been instrumental in our story of growth and positive impact,” he concluded.
Abdul-Majeed Rufai, Senior Manager for Fintech Channels, Commercial & Operations at MobileMoney LTD, announced that MTN and Mobile Money LTD will set up customer engagement booths at various locations throughout the festive season.
These stands will assist customers with Mobile Money transactions, onboard new users and provide guidance on fraud prevention.
He also mentioned that Mobile Money LTD will be actively supporting Sallahfest at Fadama, emphasising MobileMoney LTD’s commitment to honouring the Muslim community for their enduring loyalty and support of MoMo Services over the years.
The donations made to the Imams comprised items such as bags of rice, rams, cartons of vegetable oil, packs of mineral water, a variety of canned and bottled drinks, trays of tinned milk, sugar, boxes of tea bags, sachets of Milo and other assorted goods.
In the select regions, these items were handed over to the respective regional Chief Imams, in Kumasi, the presentation was received by Zakaria Abdul Abdul Rahman; in Tamale by Sheikh Alhaji Abdul Salam Ahmed and in Takoradi by Zul-Kifil Abdul-Wahid.
