The Centre for Plant Medicine Research, Mampong – Akuapem has been awarded as the Research Company of the year at the recently held Ghana Pharma Awards 2021.

The award was the pinnacle of a resoundingly night for the Centre after the institution had earlier been crowned the Herbal Company of the year.

The awards were organised by the Globe productions in collaboration with the pharmacy council, pharmaceutical society of Ghana brought together leading players in pharmacy practice, manufacturing, academia, and research to elaborate on positioning the Ghana pharma industry for the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (AFCFTA).

Receiving the award on behalf of the Centre, the Executive Director, Dr. Kofi Bobi Barimah was amazed as he acknowledged the key players who so far have contributed to researching herbal solutions to fight chronic ailments.

“I am not surprised our noble institution has been one of the best in recent times, in terms of treatment and research. I must say that our researchers and other staff have worked earnestly to achieve this award” he said.

Adding that: “We are determined to make Plant medicine relevant in the research industry to eradicate all assertions on plant medicine administration”.

“So far, I am grateful to the government and key stakeholders for their investments to help fight the global pandemic through innovative research. I therefore humbly call on our pharmaceutical companies to partner is to explore more in research to promote herbal medicine in Ghana”.
