SIM

The nationwide SIM Card re-registration begun Friday, October 1, 2021.

The 6-month exercise will end on March 31, 2022.

Head of Public Relations Department of the NIA, Abudu Abdul-Ganiyu, told GBC News that the registration is aimed at ridding the country’s cyberspace of fraudsters, and to monitor and track down persons who use their phones for criminal activities.

He said the NIA has the capacity to handle all 17 million Ghana cardholders if they all intend to complete the exercise within the next 24 hours.

Mr. Ganiyu advised the public to avoid buying already registered sim cards from vendors as it constitutes a crime.
