Maame Tiwaa

The fight against corruption has dominated many topical discussions across the African continent.

Owing to Ghana’s fight against corruption, the policy analyst for the Alliance for Social Equity and Public Accountability(ASEPA) has questioned the credibility of Maame Tiwa Addo-Danquah as the head of the Economic and organized crime office (EOCO).

In a statement, Oscar Bedzra stated that the past record of Maame Tiwa Addo-Danquah as CID boss of the Ghana Police Service was dominated by what he described as public mistrust and poor delivery during the case of the Takoradi missing girls saga.

“…’We know where the girls are’ continue to sound and resound in the Memories and hearts of Ghanaians anytime her name is mentioned, not to even talk of any other leadership role requiring a higher level of truth and accountability.

Till date, the girls are nowhere to be found. All we could hear was her elevation to EOCO. Does this move by the president not spell doom for Ghana’s quest to fight corruption? ” Oscar Bedzra questioned

He additionally predicted the selectivity of EOCO in dealing with reports brought before it stating that political witch-hunting is likely to dominate the operations of EOCO under Maame Tiwa’s leadership.

Oscar Bedzra further called on other civil society organisations to keep close eyes on EOCO and other anti-corruption agencies.
