The former member of parliament for Manhyia North, Mr. Collins Owusu Amankwah, has posited that although the E-Levy is unpopular, it is for the best.
He explained that although there is opposition surrounding the levy, Ghanaians must understand the importance of the introduction of the levy.
He was speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
He indicated that taxation is important since it helps the government to generate revenue to develop the country.
“What is important for the citizens to do is to demand accountability from our leaders on how they have used our resources. I, therefore, would like to admonish the Minority to accept the levy and stop their entrenched position,” he said.
In his view, the position of the Minority was not the best.
He further asserted that former President Mahama who is opposing the E-Levy today had justified the need to pay taxes in the past.
He added that we must all sacrifice as Ghanaians and pay the E-Levy. It is for the best and we must all support it.
