Five members of the Heaven Embassy Chapel International are being treated for gunshot wounds following an attack on their church during an All-Night Church Service.

The incident occurred early Saturday, April 16, 2022, when a gang of four masked men invaded the premises of the church at Atwima Afrancho in the Atwima Kwanwoma district of the Ashanti region in a suspected armed robbery expedition.

Five of the Congregants, aged between 10 and 47 years, were shot after which the suspects reportedly escaped with mobile phones and an unspecified amount of cash seized from the worshippers.

The District Police Commander, Superintendent Albert Odei Quansah, who confirmed the incident to our Correspondent, Nicholas Osei-Wusu, in an interview, said one of the victims whose gunshot wound is critical, is on admission at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi receiving emergency medical care.

Asked whether or not the church could organize its Resurrection Sunday Church Service as part of the celebration of the Easter, the Ofoase District Police Commander assured residents in the community that the Police have deployed personnel to patrol the area to provide security for both life and property while efforts were being made to track down members of the armed robbery gang to bring them to justice.
