Reports that leading Flyweight boxer, Theophilus Allotey has been dropped from the national amateur boxing team going to Birmingham for the 2022 Commonwealth Games has raised apprehension and many boxing fans who have been monitoring the Black Bombers want the right things to be done.
Former world champion, Joseph Agbeko is one of the concerned personalities who is not happy about the development as he sees Allotey as a very good medal hope.
He told Yours Truly, Allotey is young, skillful, talented, and eager to go for a medal for Ghana.
According to Agbeko who went to the extent of meeting the GOC/CGG President, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah, and some executive board members said Allotey is the number one in the Flyweight division and has beaten all other contenders, so why should he be dropped.
Theophilus Allotey won the 2022 Individual Championship held at the Accra Sports Stadium and Bukom Boxing Arena to select the boxing team to represent Ghana at the Commonwealth Games.
Meanwhile, the Welfare Officer of Team Ghana, for the Commonwealth Games Mr. Isaac Duah has advised the Ghana Boxing Federation to do the right things to bring peace, love, and unity to the team and country.
Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah also hoped that the Black Bombers officials will select the best boxers to represent the nation.
