The new Director General of GES, Dr. Eric Nkansah has hinted of his desire to work towards improving the welfare of teachers and non-teaching staff of pre-tertiary institutions across the country.

This, he said would be done by visiting the various regions to engage teaching and non-teaching staff, listen to their challenges, and look at how best to help resolve them.

Dr. Eric Nkansah, gave the hint when he visited some selected schools under the Osu Cluster of schools in Accra on Thursday.

The visit was aimed at engaging teachers and pupils of the Osu St. Thomas Presbyterian Primary/Kindergarten, Osu Presbyterian Boys Primary and Osu Presbyterian Two Boys Junior High School (JHS) all in Accra.

The Director General commended the teachers for their hard work and assured them of his commitment to supporting and creating the right environment for them in the discharge of their duties.

Dr Nkansah was upbeat that with the current state of development and initiatives being put in place by the government everything possible would be done to enhance effective teaching and learning, especially in the areas of science.

He pledged to work together with the leadership of the schools to resource the science laboratories in the schools to boost the teaching and learning of science in the schools.

On behalf of the School Improvement Support Officer (SISO) for Osu, the Headteacher of Osu of Manhean Basic School, Mr. Joshua Nartey, praised the new DG for the visit and wished him well in his new position.

He again on behalf of his colleague SISO’s pledged to work very hard towards improving teaching and learning outcomes in the country.

Dr. Nkansah also inspected an ongoing library refurbishment project in the Osu Cluster of Schools funded and implemented by Deloitte and Spring-UP Global Network under the Deloitte ‘WorldClass Initiative’.
