Ghana is set to host the 2023 edition of the Africa Monologue Challenge scheduled on 27 May 2023 at the National Theatre in Accra.

The Africa Monologue Challenge is a competition to unearth new actors in Africa.

Out of 500 applicants, we narrow it down to 50 and then to the final 10 plus one Wardcare making 11 finalists battled the night out of the championship.

The event organised by NK-Casting is in partnership with the Africa Chamber of Contents Producers, and the National Film Authority.

Speaking in an interview, the Chief Executive Officer of NK-Casting Mr Mawuko Kuadzi said “We seek to achieve unearth new talent not just in Ghana but across Africa because one of the challenges I have had over the years is that, I don’t know how come if you are going a movie which needs an Africa actor we have to cast an American and tell us how Africa should sound so we want the producers and directors out there to know the kind of act we have in Ghana and Africa. Through this we want them to believe that Africa has talent that is good and can play lead actors in their movie”.

The winner of the 2023 Africa monologue challenge takes home 1000 USD professional headshots and a certificate.
Again, the winner will be a lead actor in a pan-African movie written about the winner, above all the winner’s country get to host the next Africa Monologue Challenge. The first runner-up takes home 500USD and the second runner-up gets 100USD

The challenge is represented by two Ghanaians, one Cameroon, one Zambian, one South African, two Kenyans, one Nigerian, one Tanzanian, one Ugandan, and one Diaspora from the UK.

In attendance will be representatives from the British High Commission, the Kenya High Commission, the South Africa High Commission, the Africa Chamber of Content Producers, the National Film Authority, and NK-Casting, among others.
