The Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) a body corporate with perpetual succession which seeks the provisions of Specialist Health Training has inducted 250 associate members.
The Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM) is a body corporate with perpetual succession established by the provisions of the SPECIALIST HEALTH TRAINING AND PLANT MEDICINE RESEARCH ACT 2011, PART THREE (ACT 833).
Its key mandates include:
• To Promote specialist education in nursing, midwifery and related disciplines
• To Promote continuous professional development in nursing, midwifery and related disciplines
• To Promote postgraduate nursing, midwifery and related disciplines for the College• Contribute to the formulation of policies to improve health outcomes and public health generally.
Speaking at the event, the President of (GCNM) Prof. Mrs. Victoria Bam called on the government to provide the necessary resources for quality health care.
According to her, the college seeks to promote specialist education, continuous professional development and postgraduate nursing, and midwifery, therefore there is the need for the provision of adequate equipment and resources for the country’s health delivery to be one of a kind.
She said many times, patients complain that nurses are not trained well thus offering poor health services. “This does not speak well of us” she added.
Throwing more light, she believes Ghana has the best health professionals which needs the necessary push to be able to sustain the high standard.
Touching on their outstanding performance of health professionals during the COVID pandemic, she commended all for a good job and advised that, there’s more room to attain the best.
Prof. Bam then advised all inductees to exhibit professionalism in their various disciplines when posted out to deliver.
