Over 60 children gathered at the Ghana tennis club for the annual Robert Amartey Foundation tennis clinic and for the distribution of tennis rackets, balls bags, shoes, and apparel.
The junior tennis players were taken through modern tennis techniques, such as progressive skills levels with specific goals and competence.
Speaking to Ghanatennis.org, President of the foundation, Mr. Robert Amartey said, “this is the sport that gave me everything in life, it is all about creating opportunities for the kids in Adabraka and its environs through sports.
This year, I decided to take the children through stimulating tennis-specific coordination activities that will lead to proper development of fundamentals.
Players will establish skills that allow them to cooperate, rally and practice with each other well. The children here have really improved, and the numbers have also increased compared to last year.”
He added “My Foundation (Robert Amartey Foundation) in partnership with Sports Men Tennis (STC) will sponsor two children yearly from Ghana for training in Boston, USA.”
He thanked Sports Men Tennis Club (STC) and United States Professional Tennis Register (USPTR) for their unflinching support to him for the past 12 years and also thanked my very good friend Mr. Robert Tetteh, the Former vice chairman of 4 Garrison tennis club for his continues support anytime am back home.
Vice President of Ghana Tennis Federation, Cedric Dzelu and the Board member of the federation, Henry Boni said, the federation wants to commend Robert Amartey and his foundation for his unflinching support to the tennis children at Adabraka and its environs.
After the clinic, each child was given tennis rackets, shoes, bags, apparel and also lunch.
