New Chorkor and Ga Mashie boxing idol, Ernest Akushey aka Baubali has called for a rematch against Elvis Ahorgah to decide who wins the vacant National Super Middleweight Title.

In an exclusive interview with Yours Truly at his Chorkor base, he expressed his blamelessness on the ending of the fight and the show which started well and can be classed as one of the best promotions.

The maiden Ayitey Powers Promotions main bout ended abruptly in round six after the referee noticed a cut on the left gloves of Baubali.

He called for a replacement which the corner of Soldier did not agree and in the process dropped a towel on the canvas to signify they had given up, but notified that it was not intentional.

As there was no agreement between the two corners, promoters and GBA officials, the referee, Roger Barnor got down from the ring and fans also followed to fall out of the packed Bukom Boxing Arena which attracted personalities like the CEO of Game TV, former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan, Prof. Azumah Nelson, Kalybos, Ayitey Powers and others.

According to Baubali he was not comfortable with the gloves because it has been used earlier and was wet. He was also soaking all the best punches of Soldier to explode in the latter rounds.

He expressed that Soldier has not been tested to go beyond six rounds and he was prepared for twelve rounds and also hoping for a knock out opportunity.

Now known as ‘World Champ’ in his community, he promised to come back better.

“I have learnt a lot, this bout has really taught me many things not only in the ring, but outside. Now I am very popular and have to comport myself well in public” he said.

He revealed that ‘Baubali’ is the title of an Indian film and was given to him by his fans.

Undefeated Ernest Akushey who trains at Wadada Gym at James Town now has a record of nine fights; the result of the last bout is yet to be declared, appealed to his fans to remain calm, hoping to get a rematch.

“I thank all my fans and family. The people of Chorkor are super. Chorkor is sweeter than anywhere in the world,” he added.
