John Evans Atta Mills (J.E.A) Memorial Heritage, a non-profit organisation propagating the legacies of late President John Evans Atta Mills, has launched a book to celebrate him.

Dubbed “Atta Mills Around the Regions”,is a compilation of all the lectures delivered in the 16 regions across the country.  

Kwesi Pratt Junior, the Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, who was the keynote speaker said, J.E.A Mills was a well mannered person and a sure promise deliver, of which he should be celerated.

Reminiscing his days with Late former President Mills, he said he wasn’t only any of above mentioned but also a visionary leader who always stood firm in decosion making.”

According to him, the lecture was part of the activities to celebrate his legacies.

Anniversary activities include, wreath-laying ceremony and memorial service for the late former President would be held at the Asomdwee Park, near the Black Star Square on July 24, 2024.

27th July 2024, Hockey Tournament would be held at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium in Accra. 

Alex Segbefia, former Health Minister during NDC, tenure of office said the ideals and virtues of President Mills remained relevant particularly in the areas of national unity and cohesion, servant leadership, and combatting corruption and therefore neede to be keenly observed.

Edwin Nii Lante Vanderpuye, added his voice when auctioning the book, revealed that proceeds from it would be used to run the operations of the Heritage and support projects being done in memory of the late President.

First copy was bought for GHS50,000 by a member of the National Democratic Congress who remained anonymous, and the second for GHS 40,000. 

Former President John Dramani Mahama, also flag bearer of the NDC and his Vice Presidential Candidate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, purchased a copy for GHS 20,000, each, whiles other party patroits also picked one for GHS 30,000, and the Minority Caucus buying a copy for GHS 40,000. 

The event was attended by Former President John Dramani Mahama and his Vice Presidential Candidate Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, Minority Caucus of Parliament, Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of the Asogli State, and the leadership and membership of the NDC. 

Professor John Evans Fiifi Atta Mills was born on July 21st, 1944, at Tarkwa in the Western Region of Ghana and hails from Ekumfi Otuam in the Mfantsiman East Constituency of the Central Region.

He resumed Presidency on 2nd January 2009, he was on seat until he passed on, on 24th July, 2012.
