Key Concerns and Recommendations

– *Accountability and Immediate Action*: We call on the Ghana Police Service to investigate the role of Captain Smart of Onua TV in inciting the youth of Obuasi to besiege the AngloGold Ashanti premises. As a public figure, Captain Smart must be held accountable for his actions.

– *Dialogue and Peaceful Negotiations*: We urge the leadership of AngloGold Ashanti and the small-scale mining community to prioritize dialogue and peaceful negotiations to resolve their long-standing issues.

– *Restraint and Calm*: We appeal to the youth of Obuasi to exercise restraint and remain calm as authorities work to resolve this matter. Taking the law into one’s hands or resorting to violence will only exacerbate the situation.

– *Support for Bereaved Families*: We stand in solidarity with the families of the victims and call on the government and other stakeholders to provide necessary support to the affected families.

In conclusion, we reiterate our commitment to peace and development in Obuasi. We urge all parties involved to act responsibly and work toward a resolution that benefits the entire community.
