Peter Dery, Head of Retail Banking at UBA Ghana, engaged with students, entrepreneurs, and young professionals at the recent Barcamp event held in Tema.
Barcamp, a dynamic youth-focused initiative organized by the GhanaThink Foundation, brings together young minds from across Ghana to network, share ideas, and explore pathways to leadership, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Speaking to a vibrant audience, Mr. Dery emphasized the importance of skills development and preparedness.
“Opportunities are everywhere, but only those who are prepared can take full advantage of them,” he noted.
He spoke passionately about the value of financial literacy, describing it as an essential life skill for young people.
He offered practical tips on budgeting, consistent saving, and setting financial goals, urging participants to build strong money management habits early.

His engagements extended to starting and growing small businesses, as he equipped participants with practical strategies for managing operations, understanding market dynamics, and reinvesting profits to ensure sustainable growth.
Mr. Dery also reaffirmed UBA’s commitment to supporting youth entrepreneurship through tailored financial solutions, SME clinics, and capacity-building workshops aimed at helping young business owners overcome challenges and grow sustainably.
Mr. Dery was joined by Sylvia Sai, Relationship Manager at UBA’s East Legon Business Office, who also engaged and inspired participants with insights on building meaningful careers and customer relationships.
