A Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Security, James Agalga, has asked Ghanaians to be vigilant and cooperate with the security to protect the country.
He charged every citizen especially those in the Builsa North Constituency as well as the neighboring communities closer to the borders not to hesitate to report any suspected terrorist to the Security for immediate arrest to deter other intruders from attacks.
Mr Agalga made the call in an exclusive interview with a Radio Ghana Correspondent at Chuchuliga in the Builsa North Municipality of the Upper East Region.
According to him, his assertion was made following the recent alert issued by the Ghana Police Service that some bandits had penetrated into the Upper East, North East, and Northern Regions.
Mr Agalga who is also the MP for Builsa North and former Deputy Interior Minister in the Mahama-led NDC government, said bandits are wicked and unsympathetic beings bent on attacking countries to destroy human lives and property.
This, he noted, therefore behooves all and sundry to be vigilant and not leave that responsibility on the Security Personnel alone.
Mr. Agalga disclosed that this year alone from January to June, about 40 attacks caused by the bandits were recorded in the Sultan State of Nigeria while 70 were also recorded last year.
Other countries that were victims of bandits in West Africa, he said, include Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso. Mr. Agalga, therefore further appealed to the Ministries of Defence and the Interior to beef up the Security to avoid any attacks.
