ICT is often promoted as a solution to a range of social ills. This is particularly true for the use of ICT in developing countries.

ICT deployment can address numerous issues but its overall aim is the empowerment and emancipation of individuals with the aim of improving society.

It is against this background that the Executive Director of Media Foundation for West Africa, Sulemana Braimah, says in the digital era whereby Information Communication and Technology. ICT is gaining popularity in all spheres of life, there are other serious consequences that come with it.

He stressed that women are always neglected in terms of ICT.

Mr. Braimah said women empowerment needs to be strengthened to bridge the gaps in terms of women’s rights online in the country.

Mr. Braimah who was speaking at a national stakeholders’ forum on women’s rights online in Ghana, was of the view that women need to take their right spaces in ICT development to mitigate the growing trend of online blackmail by online fraudsters.

He also tasked Civil Society groups to do more in education to support women’s rights online.
