President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has remembered the late former President Jerry John Rawlings.

In a tweet to mark the one-year anniversary since the passing of the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Akufo-Addo said “Gone but not forgotten. Continue to rest in peace, Comandante.”

It is recalled that during the funeral ceremony of Mr. Rawlngs on January 29, 2021, Mr. Akufo-Addo paid glowing tribute to him describing as a “charismatic, energetic and fearless leader”.

The President said the young Air Force officer burst onto the political scene like a meteor that did not disintegrate but remained potent till the end of its life.

“On the contrary, it remained potent until the very end of its life, leaving strong footprints in the sands of time,” he said about the man he affectionately called ‘Comandante.”

He added “I knew that, in moments of difficulty in my Presidency, I could count on his considerable wealth of experience and knowledge. On those occasions, he came through for me.”
