The Omicron Variant raised its ugly head at a point when the world was ready to celebrate the birth of Christ with a sense of normalcy.
However, the new variant of the novel CoronaVirus brought back emotions reminiscent of December 2019, when cases began popping up across the world.
The body of Christ has been hit repeatedly by the effects of COVID and has had to adjust to the challenges posed and the recovery process.
Kingdom Equip Network, a Civil Society Organization that represents Church and Christian bodies, has commended members of the various religious communities for what it described as compliance with measures put in place to curb Covid, coupled with ultimate faith in God.
Kingdom Equip Network as a partner for Churches and Religious stakeholders has seen the need to release some guidelines for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve commemorative events.
In a statement released to reputable members of the media, the Network said, “The emergence of the Omicron variant at a time when Christians are eager to worship the Lord and celebrate the birth of our savior poses new challenges. However, we trust the Lord to keep his own
safe.”
Some of the guidelines include measures to ensure the safety of children, the elderly, and the most medically vulnerable congregants.
Below is the full statement:
Kingdom Equip Network wishes to congratulate all Church Umbrella Groups, Para-Church Institutions, Church Leaders, Church Workers and Congregations, our cherished Partners and, well-wishers, on a year filled with grace. We reserve the final gratitude to our Lord and Savior Jesus for protecting us all, through what threatened to be a perilous year.
This year, through our engagements with religious stakeholders, we have noted the dedication and importance attached to not forsaking the gathering of the brethren. Churches have generally been compliant with measures put in place to battle the Corona virus, even as we placed our ultimate faith in God.
The emergence of the Omicron variant at a time when Christians are eager to worship the Lord and celebrate the birth of our savior poses new challenges. However, we trust the Lord to keep his own safe.
Kingdom Equip Network as a partner for Churches and Religious stakeholders, has seen the need to release some guidelines for the Christmas and New Year’s Eve commemorative events. The guidelines are as follows:
- Even as we encourage our congregations to be fervent in praying and trusting God, we should encourage and collaborate with health authorities in giving congregants information on vaccination and safety measures.
- We urge Church leaders to provide Sanitizers, Masks, Hand washing areas and Socially-distanced seating at all services and events; to ensure the safety of their flock.
- We urge that Helpers/Ushers and Protocol members are trained to prioritize elderly members of congregations when organizing seating arrangements and providing masks and sanitizers.
- Offer options for congregants at higher risk of severe illness in order to limit their exposure risk (e.g., remote participation in services).
- Provide a properly ventilated area for indoor worship.
- Leaders of Children Departments must be trained on ensuring that Children are sanitized and kept safe during all services.

It is our prayer that as we adhere to these guidelines, our Lord will honor our dedication in keeping us safe and giving us a festive season free of eventualities. We urge that the less privileged in society are also remembered, even as we appreciate God’s blessings.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you all.
