Hajia Safia Mohammed who is currently, the Savannah Regional Women’s organiser is one of the few dynamic young women in the NPP politics in both the Northern and the Savannah Regions of Ghana recently.
She has held some positions politically through which she has, directly and indirectly, contributed to the political fortunes of the area.
The Voiceless Media presents a summarized profile of the woman who became the first women’s organiser of the NPP in the Savannah Region since its creation and has shown sufficient dynamism and commitment to her work.
Political Experience
Hajia Safia Mohammed was Deputy Regional Women’s organiser of the NPP in the Northern Region from 2015 up to 2017.
During this period, she was able to embark on positive mobilisation and organisation of party women leading to high interest in politics of some of her peers in the Northern region.
She became the first Regional Women’s Organiser for the Savannah Region when it was created from the Northern region. She was elected for that position through competitive elections.
On her election, as Regional Women’s organiser, she embarked on a massive tour of the region and communities to revamp and excite the base of the party in the Savannah Region which yielded positive dividends in the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections in the Savannah Region.
Hajia Safia was among the few women in the Northern Region who were appointed to join the Northern Regional Campaign Team of the NPP in 2016.
The hard work of the Regional Campaign Team was pivotal in the performance of the NPP in the Northern Region in elections 2016.
The indefatigable Safia became a member of the Savannah Regional Campaign Team in election 2020.
The collective role of members of the Campaign Team led to the NPP winning 3 Parliamentary Seats in the newly created Savannah Region.
A feat described as impressive by many political watchers.
As part of efforts to mobile the Women’s base of the NPP, Hajia Safia set up the Kenyeti Women’s group at Sabonjida which has become vibrant in NPP matters.
Education
Hajia Safia Mohammed started her Senior High Education at the Northern School of Business in Tamale completing in 2002 She proceeded to the Tamale Technical University and was offered Higher National Diploma in Marketing in 2007.
Hajia Safia continued her education at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology receiving a B.A in Business Administration marketing option and also Masters in Public Administration in 2021.
Work Experience
Hajia Safia Mohammed has worked at various places during which period she contributed her quota to the corporate development of those entities.
She worked with MTN Ghana Limited as a Customer Service Supervisor.
She also worked with Aryton Drugs after her National Service at the Medical Stores (Supply) of the Ghana Health Service in the Northern region.
She is an entrepreneur and currently the Savannah Regional Coordinator for the Ghana School Feeding Programme.
Hajia Safia Mohammed is seeking re-election as the SavannahRegional Women’s Organiser to help consolidate the gains of the NPP in the Savannah Region with her experience as the first Women’s Organiser of the NPP in the Region.
