ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast, March 24, 2022/ — The African Development Bank Group invites stakeholders and the public to participate in the public consultation process for updating its Integrated Safeguards System (ISS).

Individuals and organizations wishing to participate have a 45-day window to provide feedback on the draft updated ISS document, which seeks to update the current operating version of the ISS in addressing emerging environmental and social development challenges.

Adopted first in 2014, the ISS provides details of the policy requirements and operational safeguards – which the Bank applies in supporting borrowers and clients to identify and manage the environmental and social risks of development projects, reduce development costs, and improve project sustainability.

A cornerstone of the Bank’s vision on sustainable development, the system also promotes best practices and encourages greater transparency and accountability to the Bank’s stakeholders, including project host communities.

An announcement (https://bit.ly/36lwZLA) of the ISS update was issued in December 2021.
