Musah Superior, the general secretary hopeful of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has lashed out at the national executives of the governing party for neglecting the support base in the constituencies.
He said members of the NPP are disgruntled because the party leadership is not concerned about their welfare, a situation he is hoping to change when he wins the general secretary position.
Superior said the party needs fresh ideas from a new crop of national executives to remain in power after President Akufo-Addo’s tenure.
Superior, who is also the deputy CEO of the Forestry Commission, said the party needs to prioritise and reorganise from the grassroots in order to “break the eight.”
“Since we came to power, the party had no plans to cater comprehensively for the welfare of the hardworking party officers, which consequentially characterised the party’s poor performance in the 2020 presidential and parliamentary elections,” he said during a campaign tour in the Oti Region.
“There should be no excuse for our loss of 32 seats in Parliament and our current national executives ought to be blamed because they superintended over the disqualifications, machinations, favouritism, and imposition of candidates on the constituencies which caused our downfall,” the former mayor of Tamale said.
