Kuchoko Roots Festival is a Blakk Rasta initiative and has been running for some time now, the third edition held at Alliance Française on Easter Friday.

A number of artistes opened the show kept the house warm, preparing the the ultimate. Fee Ranking, Blakka Tee, Edy Weyori, Zendimah, T- Qay and the Vibration Kings gave a huge account of themselves on stage while King Lagazee and Ras Nico serenaded the crowd with their dj skills.

Rex Omar took the stage at exactly 10pm and quickly worked the audience to a crescendo. His energy was huge as many wondered why the artiste is in semi-retirement.

He was obviously the best-dressed artiste on stage in his three-piece Agbada. He belted out his hits such as Abiba, Wo dofo ne hwan and more.

Interestingly, Rex Omar was a Reggae Artiste at the start of his career and had no problem appealing to a Reggae audience.

When Blakk Rasta mounted the stage at 11pm, the ultimate had arrived. The house was on fire and the seats became empty, driving everybody to the dance floor. It was tune after tune and the energy was unsurpassed.

The predominantly white audience swung from step to step, dancing the starry night away in Kuchoko.

When Blakk Rasta dropped Thief President, his latest hit, the audience screamed in anticipation. No wonder they asked for an encore.

Kuchoko Roots Festival is an annual African Reggae festival which seeks to indigenize Reggae in Ghana and Africa with infused-African sounds and dances.
