The strong posture of a Ghanaian Soldier with the 66 Artillery Regiment Sergeant Sampah Koah Romeo to stop the operations of illegal mining in Enchi in the Western North Region has triggered attacks from the camp of the Notorious Paramount Chief of Aowin Traditional Area Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin (II) known as Thomas Adjei in private life who is allegedly deeply involved in Galamsey activities.

Sergeant Sampah Koah Romeo is also a well-known traditional ruler as the Chief of Amonie Nana Adade (II).

The Aowin Chief after several failed attempts to shake off the Soldier decided to send thugs to the Soldier Man’s Palace in his absence in Amonie in Enchi was raided at night and inflicted wounds on his subjects and family members occupying the palace and they also burnt his Military Uniform during the raid.

The adamant posture of the soldier, as a result, didn’t go down well with the notorious chief and residents who were illegally benefiting from the illegal mining activities.

The case is currently in court but the Soldier has vowed to fight back and deal with this notorious chief who according to him, has taken fancy and juicy money from the Chinese promising them concessions for Galamsey.

The fight against galamsey by the government over the past few years has seen some tremendous improvement with support from some well-meaning Ghanaians such as Chiefs, Kingmakers as well as private corporate entities.

But it appears some residents in Amonie, Enchi, a mining community are still practicing the galamsey with the support of some Chinese companies and uncivilized chiefs.

Notably among the damaged items were his military uniform, documents, rank badges, and other important GAF documents.

The Paramount Chief of Aowin Traditional Area Beyeeman Tano Kwaw Benbuin (II) known as Thomas Adjei in private life with his other cohorts have allegedly been fingered in the masterminding of the incident.

It will be recalled that the supposed chief Tano Kwaw Benbuin (II) on 21st November 2019 was said to have disrespected his elders, flogging teens, involved himself in galamsey, and impregnating his own niece.

In an exclusive interview with AmaGhana Online, Nana Adade (II) disclosed that the incident is currently in court and prayed for justice to prevail.

“The issue is in court and they have been served. They are doing cross-examination so that they will know that it is very wrong to engage in violence. I am waiting for the court to finalize their conclusion and if they don’t bring the best judgment, we will take it from there. The Millitary Uniform is a state-owned property so they can’t go scot-free,” he vowed.
