The Ghana Grid Company has attributed the cause of the power outage experienced across the nation on Saturday, 7 May 2022, to a system disturbance caused by faulty equipment on the Takoradi Extension-Winneba line.

According to the company, this caused the shut down of all generating plants in Aboadze, Bui and Kpong and Tema.

Only the Kpone Thermal Power Plant was not forced to shut down, a statement issued by the company disclosed.

It continued that: “This caused forced outages within the coastal corridor of the National Grid which led to power supply interruptions in some parts of Greater Accra, Western/Central, Middle and Northern parts of the country.”
