The National Movement for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen (NAMAC), has condemned the open display of biases and declaration of political preferences in favour of some candidates in the NPP Presidential race by some lead NPP Party officials who should know better but are openly breaking the rules of the game.

The nationwide pro-NPP group is calling out the likes of Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh, who recently declared his support for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawmia.

According to the group, Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh with his current influential position in Parliament should not be seen engaging in such total disregard of code and conducts that govern the NPP Presidential Elections.

The NAMAC is therefore calling on the national executives of the ruling party to, as matter of urgency, call Hon. Frank Annor Dompreh as well as those engaging in such acts to the highest order and barred from such actions.

Below is the full statement:

BRING HON. ANNOR DOMPREH AND OTHERS TO ORDER

The National Movement for Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen ( NAMAC), a nation-wide group of like- minded Youth and Party faithfuls of the NPP harbor dissatisfaction with the manner in which the Party Rules and Codes of conduct are being applied.

Most especially in relation to regulation of the conduct of some Party stalwarts.

Critically, the activities of some Party Executives, a handful of Government functionaries and some uninformed members regarding their conduct during internal Elections left much to desire. Ironically, those who are to serve as a referee to ensure strict adherence to these rules are in complete breach in their conduct as subject to the provisions.

In specific reference, the new code unveiled in 2021, mandates all members, Supporters and Sympathizers of the NPP at all levels to refrain from using both Traditional and Print Media to attack the integrity and Reputation of other Members.

Particularly, leading members perceived to be nurturing Presidential and Parliamentary ambitions.

Also, the Code of Conduct cautioned members of the NPP to desist from Using their Public office or Portfolios within or outside the Party to promote the interest of any Presidential or Parliamentary Candidates in order to gain unfair Political advantage.

However, Party Stalwarts, including members of Parliament, Presidential Staffers and High profile Personalities Occupying influential positions in our Party have made Critical statements shoeing clear disregard for the rules.

It is incomprehensible that the Party and the mandated Committee tasked to ensure the adherence of members to the Codes of Conduct exhibits a total disregard to the clear violations this actions we believe is hurting the perspective of Party faithfuls regarding the firmness of the current Executives to ensure all members play by the rules.

This perception if not checked will breed mistrust and  so affect the integrity of the processes leading to the National Delegate Congress.

As law abiding Citizens and a group with high regard to Party laws, it is within our prerogative to draw attention to the stated principles meant to guide the NPP and the Conduct of its members during the internal Election process. We believe that the Code of Conduct by themselves leave no print of sanity, but, rather the act of enforcement this codes do.

As a pro Alan group, it is our desire to promote or endorse publicly our father and mentor, HON. ALAN KWADWO KYEREMATEN, but, we have chosen not to do so because of our respect for Party rules.

This is regardless of our sincerely believe that Hon. Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen is the rightful man to succeed our President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo.

The firm believe in a Candidate does not give us the right to disregard rules and brush off stated Codes to resort to unguided, whimsical and Capricious statements detrimental to Party unity.

Unfortunately, this has been the practice of Hon. Annor Dompreh and other Party Stalwarts who are expected to know better.

In recent times, we have had a number of influential Party Leaders like Deputy General Secretary, Nana Obiri Boahene, MP for Tolon, Hon. Alhaji Habib, MP for Yendi Hon. Farouk Mahama, MP for Gushegu, Hon. Alhassan Tampuli, Northern Regional Party Chairman, Mr. Bantima Samba amongst others issuing statements to either endorse the Vice President or urging delegates for him to lead the Party.

These acts are Contemptuous in respect of the Code issued by the Party prior to our internal Party Elections.

In observance to the Code, we are calling on the Party Executives to give life to the rules by enforcing them. The leadership of the Movement will not hesitate to petition for the removal of Hon. Annor Dompreh as Majority Chief Whip whose actions are nursing seeds of disunity.

The Committee mandated to address this violations must be seen to be in action, which justifies our intention to formally petition the committee. NAMAC, is of firm believe the actions of Hon. Annor Dompreh and his cohorts are in clear violation of the Code of Conduct.

“He who seeks equity must come with clean hands”. Let us obey the rules we all agreed to, we are an orderly, and a democratic Party. We are only attractive to our strict adherence to internal democratic principles over the years.

We can’t fail our people,  leaders must show discipline. Hon. Annor Dompreh must be seen to exercise caution as a leader of unified group.
