The Greater Accra Zongo Caucus Patron of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Hon. Cecilia Asaga, has charged the students, supporters, and sympathizers of the party to brace themselves for a rigorous campaign that will boot out the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 general election.
She made this known in a statement addressing thousands of students believed to be sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress at the launch of the 5th anniversary of the Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of the NDC at the Dorma Campus of the University of Energy and Natural Resources.
She explained that though many citizens were fed up with the government, there was a need for NDC members, faithful and well-wishers to be peaceful, united, focused, and rigorous in their fight to make the party attractive to the electorate to win power in the next elections.
She asserts that no amount of intimidation will be able to weaken their resolve or deter them from doing what is right and informing Ghanaians about the economic hardship the Nana Addo Dankwa-led NPP government is putting the nation through.
She concluded by urging the students in attendance to not give up on any efforts that would bring the NDC to power to rescue the suffering Ghanaians.

The Chairman, members of Parliament present, Patron of TEIN, traditional and religious leaders present, outgoing and incoming executives, lecturers and students, distinguish ladies and gentlemen, all protocols observed.
First and foremost I offer my sincerest apologies for being unable to join you in person. This is an opportunity of a lifetime to address a gathering that is very dear to me. Unfortunately, I’ve had to travel out of the country at short notice. However I am with you at heart and in spirit.
I am delighted and honoured for the opportunity to address this historic conference via a representative. What’s more, future NDC Presidents and nation builders could emerge from this very auditorium. In case you didn’t hear me right, let me reiterate that I Cecilia Asaga believe without any shred of doubt, that TEIN will prove its mettle to the world in the not so distant future.
It saddens me to the core and I feel pain deep in my bones just looking at how far backwards this government has taken us and how much they have made it harder not just for us today, but for generations yet unborn to compete in this very wild, globalised world.
At the same time I am full of hope, full of enthusiasm and full of respect for the strength of character and courage that I feel, hear and see in this very room. I know in you, Ghana has a bright future and no amount of intimidation, bullying or harassment will extinguish that patriotic vim we all feel right here in this auditorium.
My core message for you is simple. Stand your ground with dignity and pride and resist the oppressive sentiments that are all around us. Do so diligently, in unity and with one singular purpose. This is a rescue mission that every right thinking young man or woman must be involved in. It is your democratic right and your patriotic duty. You are rescuing your future. Your only home. No one else will do it for you. Stand up and be counted.
Our country Ghana has so much to offer the world. But we can’t offer anything other than our God-given natural resources for exploitation, if we are hungry, poorly educated, disunited and have no sense of direction. That is why we must take our destiny in our own hands and carve a future that we all want to see. A future that we can all be proud of.
Some of the wealthiest countries in the world today, are among the poorest as far as natural resources are concerned. The one thing that differentiates us from them is the development of their human capital and that is why I will continue to support and push all frontiers to ensure every Ghanaian youth is equipped with the basic skills to help them reach their fullest possible potential. And where better to lay that foundation than TEIN?
I would have said a lot more in person but let me allow more time for other speakers present to share their noble ideas with the future leaders of our great nation.
In return I call for your massive support for leaders of today and the near future, who will undoubtedly pave the way for you and create better opportunities for the youth. This will certainly not be the last time I interact with the group and I look forward to more engagements soon.
I wish you a fruitful conference and pray for divine guidance in everything TEIN does.
Enjoy your interactions knowing in me you all have a mother for life.
Cecilia Asaga
